Sorry it has been so long – several years! We have not given up and are now back with another review! This one is important, as it demonstrates just how easy it is to mislead people and to outright lie in order to make money online. This is the first in a new series where we evaluate other “Review Sites”. Is this because we are jealous of other sites which compete with us? Hardly, and you will see why as you read on. One of the first red flags of any review site is when they try to ‘push’ a specific brand or product. We never do this here – we simply purchase, test, and show you the results. Do with them what you will.

This review site has a sleek look to it but is it a trustworthy site? The URL is realperformancechipreviews.com and the site has been online since 2019. Once again as you will see later on, this genuine site which reverse engineered the Nitro-OBD scam chips at quarkslab will be of interest: https://blog.quarkslab.com/reverse-engineering-of-the-nitro-obd2.html , as some of their photos have been stolen by this fake review site (realperformancechipreviews.com).

First, let’s take a look at some of the products ‘reviewed’ on the site:

The top two are the ‘Spitfire Tuning Performance Chip’ and the ‘Dragonworks Performance Chip’. Doing a web search of these two ‘chips’ points us to two websites which sell them: spitfiretuning.com and dragonworksperformance.com. Both sites look very similar in layout and both claim to be located in southern California, USA:

Surely it may just be a coincidence that both websites are located in the same area, their color theme is almost identical and both products are rated good at the top of the realperformancechipreviews.com review site? Not quite. A little deeper digging reveals something more damning at https://uspto.report/company/jeffrey-munger:

USPTO Trademark Report for Jeffrey Munger in Chino, CA
USPTO Trademark Report for Jeffrey Munger in Chino, CA

Now we see the plot thickens. Both trademarks “Dragonworks Performance” and “Spitfire Tuning” were applied for on the same day and by the same individual! They also trademarked two other names to be on the lookout for: “Dragonfire Performance Chip” and “Streetwolf Performance”. Chino, CA is indeed in southern California and it appears this is the source of these chips, which we have already determined to be a scam in previous reviews. Now that we know these fake modules are both sold by the same scammers, can we prove the review site is related, or are they just mistaken in their findings?

A deeper look into the review site realperformancechipreviews.com using a wordpress analyzing website reveals the answer to this question:

Realperformancechipreviews.com Fake Review Website is Run by Jeff Munger
Realperformancechipreviews.com Fake Review Website is Run by Jeff Munger

It looks like we found our answer. The name of the user who runs the review site is “mungerjeff07”. He obviously didn’t know this would be visible and assumed it was hidden. OOPS! The website rates the Spitfire chip and Dragonworks chip well because it is run by the SAME individual who applied for trademarks for BOTH products! Now it all makes sense. While it may not be illegal (yet) to fabricate a fake review site to push your own products, it IS extremely immoral. Let’s look deeper at the now-confirmed fake review site at realperformancechipreviews.com and see what else we can determine:

Acting like "STAFF" to point users to other website to hopefully make a purchase
Acting like “STAFF” to point users to other website to hopefully make a purchase

Here they are acting like staff, pointing customers to their other website in hopes they will make a purchase. Have they no shame?

Internal Analysis

We were curious as to what ‘proof’ they had to support their ‘good’ review of the Dragonworks chip. We soon found there was no proof at all:

Photo claiming to be the inside of the Dragonworks chip, actually stolen from Quarkslab site
Photo claiming to be the inside of the Dragonworks chip, actually stolen from the legitimate Quarkslab site

Here they claim the photo is the inside of the Dragonworks chip. They are sort-of telling a fib and not at the same time. The lie is, they did not analyze anything – in reality it is a stolen photo from the genuine website at quarkslab. The truth is it really is from a scam chip, the Nitro OBD2! They hope to use the technical looking photo in an attempt to fool the user into believing they removed the top of the integrated circuit and proved the chip is legitimate. More bunk.

They attempt to spin this photo they stole from the quarkslab site and say it ‘proves’ their scam chip has a CAN interface:

Fake review site claims Dragonworks scam chip can interface with all protocols
Fake review site claims Dragonworks scam chip can interface with all protocols

From our research on the realperformancechipreviews.com site, we can definitely say this site is a scam built with the sole purpose of generating fake reviews and to sell more of their products, the Spitfire chip and Dragonworks chip. Sad.  Our initial instincts were correct. The Spitfire or Dragonworks chip isn’t worth a spit!  Don’t CHIP in your hard earned money for this – you’re better off to buy a BAG OF POTATO CHIPS!
